Our Story

In August 2012, we met while working as servers at a local Italian restaurant, Lavagna, on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. We bonded over world travels, the DC job search and developed a healthy rivalry as co-workers. Our relationship unfolded as we explored the city's neighborhoods, restaurants and came to call the District home. We are so excited to host our wedding in the city where we met and fell in love and share it with those who have loved and supported us along the way!

We will be updating our website as our big day approaches. Check back for updated information in the coming months.

Exploring Washington, DC

More recommendations for your visit will be updated in the coming months!

Local Eats

It would be impossible to list all of our favorite restaurants here. Some great resources for exploring the DC food scene include Eater DC, Washington City Paper and the Washington Post. Here's way too short a list to get you started!
  • Lavagna - Lisa and John met here! There's great homemade pasta and a fantastic brunch!
  • Bluejacket Brewery - Local brewery that is family friendly. There's plenty of room indoor and outdoors and alwayss a game on at the bar
  • Mark's Duck House - John's family's worst kept secret! A treasure of a dim sum spot in Falls Church, VA if you're able to make the trip.
  • Maketto - If you can't make it outside the city for dim sum - stop here Sunday before you go! This coffee shop has amazing space, pastries and Asian food from one of the chef's behind the LINE's Brothers and Sister's and Spoken English.
  • Hank's Oyster Bar - with locations all around the city, this is a great way to get your oyster or seafood fix while in town
  • Granville Moore's - a Belgian beer cave in DC! Go for the great selection, stay for the frites!
  • Blackjack - If you're not dashing out of town on Sunday check out their all day happy hour (a D.C. must! and John's personal favorite in the city). Their sister restaurant below, Pearl Dive, is another great seafood spot.

We'd also like to feature some spots near the hotels in Adams Morgan (or AdMo as the kids call it!)
